We are proud to highlight the Speech-Language Pathologists specializing in dysphagia and voice at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. This first-of-its-kind course at Weill Cornell was created and led by cochairs James Curtis, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S, and Valentina Mocchetti, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S.
As influential members of the Department on both national and international levels, Dr. Curtis and Ms. Mocchetti exemplify leadership in advancing clinical excellence through education and mentorship. Additional faculty, also recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise in dysphagia and voice disorders, contributed to a world-class lecture and hands-on training experience. These included Anaïs Rameau, MD, MS, MPhil; Christine Clark, MD, MS; Ariana Seidman, MM, MS, CCC-SLP; Sarah Kervin, MM, MS, CCC-SLP; Michelle DiMattia, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-S; and Anne Glasser Weisenberg, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S. There was outstanding attendee turnout, support, and engagement, with speech-language pathologists from over 20 states, Canada, Chile, and Turkey. Participants gained a comprehensive learning experience through hands-on training in Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Transnasal Laryngeal Videostroboscopy, with focused instruction on interpretation skills, including the Visual Analysis of Swallowing Efficiency and Safety (VASES). The course also provided guidance on clinical implementation, documentation strategies, and the integration of endoscopic techniques to enhance patient care.
