Weill Cornell Medicine Conference on Optimizing Outcomes in Head & Neck Cancer Patients with Alternative Airways Focus: Specialized Management of Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy

We’re proud to spotlight the Speech-Language Pathologists specializing in dysphagia and head and neck cancer at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.  This conference, held in partnership with ATOS Medical, highlighted best practices in caring for patients living with a neck stoma. The program was created and led by Yvonne Knapp, MS, CCC-SLP, and Anne Glasser Weisenberg, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S—two of our most experienced clinicians, bringing over 40 years of combined expertise in head and neck cancer management.

Nearly 100 Speech-Language Pathologists from across the country attended the event. Michael Stewart, MD, MPH, Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Otolaryngologist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, delivered opening remarks.

Guest lecturers included Weill Cornell’s distinguished head and neck surgeons and SLP faculty: David Kutler, MD; Andrew Tassler, MD; Aviram Mizrachi, MD, FACS; Babak Sadoughi, MD, FACS; Valentina Mocchetti, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S; and Michelle DiMattia, MS, CCC-SLP, BCS-S.
